To caucus, to caucus, to buy a fat pig.

Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

Lily and I attended our precinct’s Democratic caucus today, in this fine church:

It was kind of like a primary, but muggier, messier, and not the least bit secretive. Actually, I think the entire point of the caucus system is to allow we, the people, to intimidate and coerce each other toward consensus. It is absolutely punishing being the almost-lone voice of dissent in an overheated, elbow-to-elbow church-room caucus.

However, never one to be discouraged, here is Lily standing for change:

Today we spent a couple of hours over at the University of Puget Sound, hearing what Hillary Clinton has to say about such matters as health care, education, immigration, and Iraq.

Tomorrow we’ll be participating in our first caucus. The kid’s getting an early start, at least.
